Social media personality and Burna Boy’s associate, Richie Richie, has sparked new conversations online after a sarcastic post about people fasting and praying for the Grammy Awards — a comment many Nigerians are now linking to Davido’s recent Grammy loss to Tyla.
In the post, Richie joked about how “everybody dey fast and pray for this Grammy,” noting that the award is clearly not easy to win, otherwise “everybody for don run am.” He ended the message by telling people to “go home,” a line many interpreted as subtle shade.

The comment comes just days after Davido missed out on the Best African Music Performance award at the Grammy Awards, losing to South African singer Tyla — a result that triggered strong emotions and debate across Nigerian social media.
Following the loss, fans rallied behind Davido with prayers, fasting, and strong online support, while others questioned the Grammy voting process. Richie’s post has now been interpreted by many as a sarcastic response to that intense reaction.
While some users laughed it off as harmless banter, others accused him of mocking Davido’s supporters at a sensitive moment.
As expected, the post has reopened conversations around Nigerians’ emotional investment in the Grammys, Davido’s international recognition, and Tyla’s historic win.
For now, Richie Richie has not clarified who the post was aimed at — but online, the timing says everything.
