Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has confirmed that midfielder Mason Mount is unlikely to be available for Tuesday’s Premier League fixture against West Ham United.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Carrick said Mount is still recovering and is being targeted for a return later in the week, potentially in time for United’s next league match against Everton.
“Mason will be probably not for Tuesday, probably after, but definitely going into the Everton game he’ll be back,” Carrick said.
United are also expected to be without defender Matthijs de Ligt, although Carrick offered an encouraging update on his progress.
“We’ll see how he develops… he’s moving in the right direction, but Mason’s a little bit closer than him,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Patrick Dorgu remains sidelined, but Carrick indicated that there are no fresh injury concerns within the squad ahead of the trip to London.
Manchester United head into the fixture in strong form, having won four consecutive matches since Carrick returned to the dugout, including high-profile victories over Manchester City and Arsenal.
The Red Devils currently sit fourth in the Premier League table with 44 points and will be aiming to extend their winning run to five matches against West Ham.
