‘If I Could Go Back, I’d Be Harder’ — Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye Speaks On Her Removal As Minister

Mrs. Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, Minister of Women Affairs,

Former Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has said she harbours no regrets over her removal from office, insisting that President Bola Tinubu could not have intentionally acted to hurt her.

Speaking during an interview on Political Paradigm on Channels Television, Kennedy-Ohanenye reflected on her tenure, leadership approach, and the challenges she faced while serving in government.

“I have no regrets to date. If I could go back in time, I think I didn’t do enough; I should have been harder. It is even difficult to rule Nigerians,” she said.

She maintained that governance in Nigeria requires firmness and resilience, arguing that public office holders must sometimes take tough decisions to achieve results.

“The president is working, the governors are working, but what are Nigerians doing in between? If you want to work in this country, you must go offline and be very firm. If you don’t, you will end up achieving nothing,” she added.

Kennedy-Ohanenye further stressed that although she was not the president, she ensured that due process was followed within her ministry and that no improper actions occurred under her watch.

Her remarks come amid ongoing conversations about performance, expectations, and the pressures faced by public officials within the current administration.
