“I Have Never Used My Body To Collect A Role” — Kemity Breaks Silence On Nollywood Rumours

Yoruba actress Oluwakemisola Apesin, popularly known as Kemity or Sidi, has firmly denied allegations that she exchanged sex for movie roles, stating that her rise in Nollywood is a product of hard work and integrity.

In an emotional Instagram post shared on Thursday, the actress addressed what she described as “social media noise” surrounding her success, making it clear that her journey in the industry has been built on sweat and consistency — not shortcuts.

“There is something I need to clear respectfully. Nobody should let anyone deceive them because of social media noise. I have never used my body to collect a movie role. I have never slept with anyone to get featured in any film. I have never exchanged sex for opportunity,” she wrote.

Kemity went further to explain that long before her breakthrough in the Yoruba film industry, she was financially independent.

According to her, she owned two wine shops and also worked as a receptionist at Masters Hotel in Ayobo. She revealed that when acting began to take a financial toll — as actors were often required to feed themselves and cover accommodation during productions — she made a strategic decision to diversify her skills by venturing into makeup artistry.

“From acting, to makeup, and back to acting — my growth has always been step by step. Nothing was handed to me,” she stated.

The actress, who is also a mother of two daughters, emphasised that she would never compromise her values or dignity.

“I am a mother. I have two daughters I am raising and training with dignity and strong values. I cannot build their future on something dirty,” she wrote.

Declaring that her name remains untarnished, she boldly added, “No one and I mean no one can ever come out boldly to say I used my body to collect anything from him.”

Kemity also used the moment to encourage upcoming actresses, advising them not to believe narratives that suggest success in the industry requires compromising their bodies.

“You can succeed with talent, discipline, consistency, and hard work. No shortcuts. Just sweat,” she concluded.

Known for her comic roles in Yoruba films and skits, Kemity has steadily built a loyal fan base and remains active in the industry, continuing to feature in productions that showcase her versatility and humour.
