Galatasaray S.K. 5-2 Juventus F.C.: Noa Lang Brace Gives Turks Commanding Edge

Dutch winger Noa Lang struck twice as Galatasaray dismantled Juventus 5-2 in a dramatic first-leg Champions League playoff clash in Istanbul on Tuesday night.

In a high-intensity encounter played in a charged atmosphere, Juventus — under Luciano Spalletti — initially looked composed and clinical, heading into the break with a 2-1 advantage.

First-Half Momentum Swings

Galatasaray broke the deadlock in the 15th minute through Brazilian midfielder Gabriel Sara, who rifled a precise left-footed strike from just inside the area.

The lead, however, lasted barely a minute. Gala goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir failed to deal cleanly with Khephren Thuram’s header, parrying it into the path of Teun Koopmeiners, who slotted home the equaliser.

Koopmeiners then produced a moment of quality on 32 minutes, exchanging passes smartly with Weston McKennie before curling a fine effort into the top corner to give the Italians a 2-1 half-time lead.

At that point, Juventus appeared firmly in control.

Second-Half Collapse

Everything unraveled after the break.

Lang capitalised on defensive hesitation inside the six-yard box to level the tie in the 49th minute. The goal swung the momentum decisively in the hosts’ favour as the Istanbul crowd intensified its support.

Davinson Sanchez rose highest on the hour mark to head Galatasaray in front, exposing Juventus’ vulnerability from set pieces.

The turning point arrived in the 67th minute when Colombian full-back Juan Cabal received his second booking and was dismissed, leaving the visitors numerically disadvantaged. Unlike their recent 3-2 Serie A defeat to Inter, Juventus had little grounds for protest on this occasion.

Lang and Boey Seal Statement Win

Lang completed his brace soon after, finishing clinically to stretch the lead. Substitute Sacha Boey then added a fifth five minutes from time, driving home from a tight angle to cap a devastating second-half display.

The 5-2 result gives Galatasaray a significant cushion heading into next week’s return leg in Turin. Juventus now face a steep uphill battle if they are to overturn the deficit and keep their Champions League ambitions alive.

For Okan Buruk’s side, it was a statement performance — ruthless, dynamic, and driven by a relentless home atmosphere that ultimately overwhelmed the Italian giants.
