The Jigawa State Government has received official approval from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to begin installing cargo facilities at Dutse International Airport, a key step toward transforming the airport into a regional logistics hub.
Governor Umar Namadi announced the development during a routine inspection and calibration exercise carried out by a technical team from the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA).
He confirmed that discussions with FAAN led to the green light for installing the cargo infrastructure, marking a significant milestone in the state’s plan to enhance trade and logistics capacity.
“As part of his administration’s resolve to transform Dutse International Airport into a cargo hub, Governor Umar Namadi announced that the state government has secured approval from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to begin the installation of cargo facilities at the airport,” reported the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
Governor Namadi stressed the importance of maintaining compliance with international aviation standards to ensure high operational performance. Meanwhile, NAMA’s team checked navigational aids and evaluated equipment performance to align with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.
The approval is expected to accelerate the airport’s development into a fully operational cargo hub, boosting trade and regional logistics across Jigawa and neighbouring states.
