Nigeria international and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has been included in the UEFA Champions League Team of the Week.
UEFA announced Osimhen as one of the standout performers from the playoff second leg via its official Champions League X handle, following his impressive display against Juventus.
With Galatasaray trailing 3-0 on the night and the tie level at 5-5 on aggregate, he rose to the occasion, scoring in extra time to put the Turkish giants ahead. His goal proved decisive as Galatasaray added another to seal a dramatic 7-5 aggregate victory.
Osimhen’s outstanding performance also earned him the Man of the Match award. The 2023 African Player of the Year has now scored seven goals in eight appearances in this season’s UEFA Champions League.
Other stars named in the Team of the Week include Jan Oblak of Atletico Madrid, Aurelien Tchouameni of Real Madrid, Sandro Tonali of Newcastle United, and Napoli player Kvicha Kvaratskhelia.
