Bianca Censori has appeared in a Los Angeles courthouse to answer questions regarding the Malibu mansion owned by her husband, Kanye West.
The court appearance is linked to a lawsuit filed by West’s former employee, Tony Saxon, who is seeking $1 million in unpaid wages. Saxon alleges that the Grammy-winning rapper subjected him to unsafe and hazardous working conditions, disability discrimination, unpaid wages and reimbursements, and wrongful retaliatory termination.
West purchased the Malibu property for $57 million in 2021 and reportedly stripped the house down as part of plans to transform it into what his lawyer described as an “off-the-grid” shelter.
However, Censori pushed back against that description during her testimony.
“I believe he used that language to refer to aesthetics,” she said, adding that the building was always intended to remain a residence despite evolving design ideas.
Censori also told the court that she holds power of attorney over West, confirming that she can sign documents on his behalf.
Earlier testimony from handyman Jeromy Holding suggested that West frequently changed his plans for the property. According to him, the rapper at different times envisioned the house as a private school, bomb shelter, monastery, recording studio, and even a playground for his children.
West’s legal team has disputed Saxon’s claims, arguing that he was paid $240,000 for less than two months of work and was an independent contractor rather than an employee.
Saxon previously told jurors that Censori worked as an architectural consultant on the Malibu project in late 2021 while West was still married to Kim Kardashian.
West and Censori later got married a month after his divorce from Kardashian was finalised.
