US Congress Appears Powerless Before Trump – Shehu Sani

Shehu Sani Fires Back at UK Minister Kemi Badenoch

Former lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani, has said the United States Senate and the United States Congress appear powerless before the President of the United States, Donald Trump, in matters where their consent is required.

Sani made the remark in a statement posted on his verified handle on the social media platform X on Sunday while reacting to the ongoing hostility involving the United States, Israel and Iran.

Reports indicate that tensions escalated on February 28 after the United States and its ally Israel launched air strikes on Iran, resulting in the death of the Iranian Supreme Leader and several top government officials.

Commenting on the development, the former senator criticised what he described as the apparent inability of the US legislature to assert its authority in situations where its approval should be required.

Airing his own opinion, Sani said, “The US Senate and Congress are ignored by the President on matters where their consent is needed.

“They appeared powerless, and now resorted to the Social Media to express their outrage and anger.

“When will the next team of those lawmakers visit the next third World country and lecture them about Democracy, the Constitution, rule of law and freedom?”
