Toni Braxton cuts concert short due to ‘unexpected personal emergency’

American R&B icon Toni Braxton was forced to cut her recent performance short, leaving the stage after just two songs during a concert in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The singer had been performing as part of the New Edition Way Tour in the United States when she abruptly ended her set, which was originally scheduled to include nine songs.

Taking to Instagram Stories afterward, Braxton apologised to fans and explained that an unexpected personal emergency led to her early exit.

“My loves, I am so sorry I wasn’t able to finish the show last night,” she wrote.

“I had an unexpected personal emergency and had no choice but to step away. You deserved my everything, and I hate that I couldn’t give it to you,” she continued. “I feel your love from here. Thank you for understanding.”

The Grammy-winning artist has been touring alongside New Edition and Boyz II Men since January, though she did not disclose further details about the incident.

Braxton has previously spoken about the challenges of touring while managing her health, particularly after being diagnosed with lupus in 2008.

Reflecting on her condition in a past interview, she shared that while she has been medically cleared to perform, there is still some anxiety associated with returning to the stage following health scares.

The singer also underwent emergency heart surgery in 2022 ahead of her Las Vegas residency in 2024.

Off stage, Braxton is a mother to two sons, Denim and Diezel, whom she shares with her ex-husband Keri Lewis.
