PENGASSAN Suspends Strike Action Against Seplat After NNPCL Intervention

PENGASSAN

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has suspended its industrial action against Seplat Energy following progress in negotiations over workers’ welfare.

The decision was communicated in a notice sent to members across the union’s branches nationwide.

According to the union, the move came after Seplat’s management addressed key welfare concerns and made commitments regarding the ongoing negotiations for the 2026 Collective Bargaining Agreement.

PENGASSAN disclosed that the breakthrough was achieved after the intervention of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.

“Following constructive and productive engagements between PENGASSAN, Seplat Management, and relevant stakeholders, led by the Executive Vice President, Business Services, NNPCL, on the ongoing 2026 CBA negotiations, we are pleased to inform you that Seplat Management has provided written commitments addressing the demands of the Association,” the notice stated.

Earlier, CREEBHILLS reported that the union had, on April 2, shut down operations at Seplat over unresolved issues relating to workers’ welfare.
