US, Iran Fail to Reach Deal After Marathon Talks as ‘Final Offer’ Remains on Table

Negotiations between the United States and Iran have ended without an agreement, following high-level talks aimed at ending the ongoing Middle East conflict.

JD Vance confirmed on Sunday that discussions in Islamabad concluded without a breakthrough, though Washington has presented what it described as its “final and best offer.”

Key Sticking Point: Nuclear Commitment

According to Vance, the United States is demanding a clear and binding commitment from Iran that it will not develop nuclear weapons.

“We’re seeking a fundamental commitment… but we haven’t seen that,” he said, referring to the outcome of the talks.

Despite the deadlock, Vance indicated that Iran still has time to consider the proposal.

Pakistan Urges Continued Dialogue

Pakistan, which hosted and mediated the discussions, called on both sides to maintain dialogue and respect the temporary truce currently in place.

Iranian state media, including Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, blamed the impasse on what it described as “unreasonable demands” from the US side.

However, Iran’s foreign ministry acknowledged that reaching a deal in a single session after weeks of conflict was unlikely.

Background: Ongoing Conflict

The tensions stem from a conflict that began on February 28, when the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran, prompting retaliation from Tehran.

The situation has since escalated into a broader regional crisis, disrupting global markets and affecting oil supply routes, particularly the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump: “We’ve Already Won”

Donald Trump weighed in during the talks, asserting that the US had already achieved its objectives militarily.

“Whether we make a deal or not makes no difference to me… we’ve won,” Trump said.

What Happens Next

After nearly 21 hours of negotiations, no formal agreement was reached, but diplomatic channels remain open.

Vance reiterated that the US proposal remains on the table, leaving the next move to Iran.

“We leave here with a very simple proposal… we’ll see if the Iranians accept it,” he said before departing Pakistan.

The outcome of Iran’s response could determine whether the conflict moves toward de-escalation or further escalation in the coming weeks.
