“I Am No Longer A Member” — Olusegun Mimiko Dumps Peoples Democratic Party Amid Growing Speculation

Olusegun Mimiko Dumps Peoples Democratic Party Amid Growing Speculation

Former Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, putting an end to weeks of speculation surrounding his political alignment.

In a resignation letter addressed to the PDP chairman of Ward 7 in the Ondo West Local Government Area, Mimiko confirmed that his resignation took effect on April 10, 2026.

“I am tendering my resignation from the People’s Democratic Party, effective from April 10, 2026,” he stated.

The former governor, who led Ondo State from 2009 to 2016, explained that persistent questions about his membership status necessitated publicly clarifying his position.

“Speculations and inquiries about my membership status have made it necessary for me to clarify my position,” he wrote.

Mimiko further revealed that he had already distanced himself from party activities for some time, making his exit more of a formal confirmation than a sudden move.

“As I have been somewhat distanced from party activities, I wish to put it on record that I am no longer a member of the PDP.”

He also made it clear that his resignation was not driven by any conflict or personal grievances within the party, emphasising that the decision was made without hostility toward its leadership or members.

His exit now adds a fresh twist to the political landscape in Ondo State, with many observers watching closely to see what his next move will be.
