“He Was Talking About Properties” — Mohbad’s Wife Wunmi Speaks on Rift With Singer’s Father

Wunmi Aloba Fires Back at Joseph Aloba

The widow of late singer MohBad, Wunmi Aloba, has shared new details about the ongoing tension between her and the singer’s father, describing how family disagreements intensified after the birth of their child and worsened following Mohbad’s death.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Wunmi reflected on what she described as the breakdown of a once-close relationship within the family.

“We used to be best of friends,” she said, explaining that the relationship reportedly became strained after issues surrounding their child’s naming ceremony triggered deeper family disagreements.

According to her, what initially appeared to be ordinary family misunderstandings gradually escalated into a more serious conflict.

The situation, she said, became even more painful after Mohbad’s death, when public controversy and legal discussions surrounding the singer’s estate and child intensified nationwide.

Wunmi revealed that during the early stages of the crisis, she reached out to Mohbad’s father, hoping for support and guidance, but instead felt overwhelmed by conversations focused on property and inheritance.

“When the whole issues started I was scared and had to reach out to him but he didn’t care he was just talking about my husband’s properties,” she said.

Her comments add another emotional layer to the already public and highly sensitive disputes that have surrounded Mohbad’s death since 2023.

The singer’s passing triggered widespread public outrage, investigations, and ongoing debates involving family members, associates, and supporters. Questions around custody, inheritance, and DNA testing have repeatedly surfaced online, turning private family matters into national conversations.

In the latest interview, Wunmi suggested she felt vulnerable while navigating the situation, especially given the age difference and power dynamics within the family.

“I was so confused if I could cope with all of that. I felt he was trying to cheat me because he is older than me,” she added.

Her remarks are likely to reignite online conversations, particularly around unresolved tensions within both sides of the family and the emotional impact of public scrutiny on those closest to the late singer.

The issue of DNA testing has also remained a recurring topic in the public discourse surrounding Mohbad’s son, fueling speculation and social media arguments for months.

While the family crisis continues to play out publicly, many supporters of the late artist have repeatedly called for restraint, urging all parties involved to prioritize the welfare and dignity of the child at the center of the controversy.

Mohbad’s death remains one of the most emotionally charged moments in Nigeria’s music industry in recent years, with ongoing legal, family, and public debates continuing long after his passing.

For Wunmi, however, the latest interview shifts the focus away from online speculation and toward the personal emotional struggles behind the headlines, grief, mistrust, and a family conflict that she says began long before the wider public became involved.
