Nollywood actress Uche Montana has won the Trailblazer Award at the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards held on Saturday night at Eko Hotel and Suites.
The Trailblazer category recognizes fast-rising talents in the African film industry who have demonstrated exceptional promise, growth, and impact through their onscreen work.
An emotional Uche Montana reacted to the recognition during her acceptance speech, expressing gratitude to fans, colleagues, and supporters who have followed her journey in Nollywood.
“TRAILBLAZER 2026 I’m still trying to find words … Winning the Trailblazer award at AMVCA is such an incredible honour,” she said.
“I’m deeply grateful to everyone who has supported, believed in, and grown with me on this journey. This means everything.“
Over the past few years, Uche Montana has steadily built her profile within Nollywood through appearances in films and television productions, including Hush, The Eve, Banana Island Ghost, and Lagos Real Fake Life.
Her performances and growing screen presence have increasingly positioned her among the industry’s notable younger generation of actresses.
The 2026 AMVCA featured 32 award categories covering acting, directing, production, cinematography, digital content, indigenous films, and audience-voted recognitions.
The event also included special honorary categories, such as the Trailblazer Award, which has historically highlighted actors and filmmakers considered future leaders in the industry.
This year’s ceremony was hosted by Bovi Ugboma and South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha.
