VeryDarkMan Reacts to Viral AI Audio Linked to Tinubu

Social media activist VeryDarkMan has reacted to the controversy surrounding a viral AI-generated audio clip allegedly linked to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, criticizing government officials for focusing on the recording rather than addressing worsening insecurity in the country.

The controversy began after an audio clip circulated online featuring a voice resembling President Tinubu allegedly making disturbing comments about insecurity in Nigeria and political calculations ahead of the 2027 elections.

The recording quickly sparked reactions across social media, with many users questioning its authenticity and others raising concerns about the growing use of artificial intelligence to create misleading political content.

Following the circulation of the clip, presidential aide Bayo Onanuga reportedly condemned the spread of AI-generated misinformation involving the president and called for those behind the recording to be investigated and prosecuted.

Reacting in a video posted online, VeryDarkMan said he would not defend the audio recording itself and argued that many people should already recognize it as fake.

“You see this voice note, I will not defend it,” he said.

“It’s only stupid people that will believe that video.”

However, the activist questioned why government attention seemed to shift quickly to the AI controversy while insecurity issues affecting ordinary Nigerians continued to receive less urgency.

Referring to the reported kidnapping of schoolchildren and teachers in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, VDM criticised officials for allegedly remaining silent during tragic incidents involving civilians.

“Now they have mouth to talk, whereas bandits went to kidnap school children and teachers in Oyo State, where were they?” he asked.

The activist also expressed emotional concern for teachers affected by insecurity, explaining that the issue feels deeply personal because his mother works as a teacher.

His comments quickly sparked fresh debate online, with some social media users arguing that national attention should focus more on the security challenges affecting citizens. In contrast, others argued that fake AI-generated political content can also pose serious risks to public trust and national stability.

The incident highlights growing global concerns about the misuse of artificial intelligence to create manipulated videos and audio recordings that convincingly imitate public figures.

Across countries, governments and technology experts have increasingly warned about the political and social dangers posed by deepfake content, especially ahead of elections and during periods of political tension.

In Nigeria, the spread of AI-generated misinformation has become a rising concern as political conversations surrounding the 2027 elections gradually intensify online.

Meanwhile, insecurity remains one of the country’s most sensitive national issues, particularly after repeated reports of kidnappings, attacks on schools, and violence affecting communities in different states.

VeryDarkMan’s latest remarks have added another layer to the ongoing conversation, shifting the focus from the authenticity of the viral audio to broader concerns about governance, public safety, and the emotional toll that insecurity continues to have on Nigerian families.

As debates continue across social media, neither the presidency nor the security agencies have officially released detailed findings on the origin of the AI-generated audio clip.
