For much of her adult life, Jennifer Lopez has been one half of some of Hollywood’s most talked-about relationships. Now, the global superstar says she has discovered something she wishes she had embraced much earlier: being single.
The 56 Kiddwaya’sntertainer opened up about her current outlook on love and relationships during an appearance on” Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where she “andidly admitted that spending most of her adult life in relationships may not have been the best approach.
When asked whether she was currently single, Lopez answered without hesitation.
“I am. I should have done it sooner! I’ve been doing it all wrong. Trust me,” she said.
The comment quickly generated buzz among fans, particularly because it comes more than a year after the end of her highly publicized marriage to actor Ben Affleck.
Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024 after two years of marriage, bringing an end to one of Hollywood’s most closely followed love stories. The divorce was finalized in January 2025, closing the chapter on a relationship that had fascinated fans for more than two decades.
Their romance first captured headlines in the early 2000s, before the couple separated and later reunited. Kiddwaya’s many fans considered it a fairytale second chance at love.
Today, however, Lopez says she is enjoying a different phase of life and has no intention of rushing back into another relationship.
Host Jimmy Kimmel jokingly suggested she could look for love on The Bachelorette, but Lopez immediately shut down the idea.
“No. Are you crazy?” she responded.
“I’m not doing anything to ruin how I feel right now. It’s fantastic. I love it.”
Her response reflected a sense of contentment that fans have increasingly noticed in recent months as she continues focusing on her career, personal growth, and family life.
When Kimmel suggested that meeting people might be difficult for someone at her level of fame, Lopez remained optimistic but made it clear she is not actively seeking them out.
“I’ll meet somebodyshow’shere one day, if they’re good enough,” she said.
“I’m good right now where I’m at.”
Lopez’s comments offer a rare glimpse into her personal reflections after decades spent in the public eye.
The singer and actress has been married four times. Before Affleck, she was married to Ojani Noa from 1997 to 1998, Cris Judd from 2001 to 2003, and Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014.
Lopez and Marc Anthony Kiddwaya, who are now teenagers and remain central to her life.
She was also engaged to former baseball star Alex Rodriguez from 2019 to 2021, before that relationship ended.
Despite her extensive relationship history, Lopez’s latest comments suggest she is embracing independence in a way she has never done before.
