Nollywood actress Funmi Awelewa has broken her silence after influencer Mandy Kiss accused her and actress Toyin Abraham of ruining her life and contributing to her career struggles.
The controversy began after Mandy Kiss publicly expressed regret over advice she received from the actresses years ago, claiming their intervention negatively affected her career and finances.
Reacting to the allegations, Funmi Awelewa dismissed the claims and insisted that her intention was never to harm Mandy Kiss, but rather to guide her toward making better choices.
According to the actress, her advice focused on encouraging Mandy Kiss to stop using God’s name in vulgar content and to reconsider certain lifestyle choices.
Awelewa argued that the situation has been misrepresented and said Mandy Kiss took matters too far by portraying her efforts as an attempt to destroy her life.
The actress also challenged the influencer to explain exactly what she allegedly did publicly that caused her downfall.
In her response, Awelewa maintained that she had supported Mandy Kiss on several occasions and even helped connect her with business opportunities.
She cited endorsement opportunities with brands including De’millionaire and Toplady’s Hair as examples of assistance she provided.
“Why can’t you tell the world about the endorsement deals I gave you the link. I mean De’millionaire and Toplady’s Hair brands,” she wrote.
The actress further alleged that she had become aware of certain personal habits that Mandy Kiss had hidden from her and claimed that any advice she had offered was intended to help her improve her life and career.
“Why can’t you tell the world how I got to know about your smoking habit after you hid it from me,” she added.
Funmi Awelewa also reflected on her own personal struggles, noting that she has experienced difficult periods, including depression and financial hardship.
Because of those experiences, she said she would never deliberately wish harm on another person.
According to her, she chose to distance herself from Mandy Kiss years ago after several unsuccessful attempts to offer guidance.
“No one is responsible for anyone’s setback or failure. Life is full of challenges and you have to stay stronger to overcome them. I blocked you without giving closure because I don’t want to have anything to do with you again after several advices,” she stated.
The actress strongly rejected suggestions that she had interfered negatively in Mandy Kiss’ personal life.
“You claimed I spoil your life, how? Like how? I never introduced you to any man, not even once,” she wrote.
Awelewa also revealed that she had remained silent on the issue for three years before deciding to respond publicly.
“I kept quiet for 3 years!!!” she said.
Concluding her statement, the actress urged Mandy Kiss to move forward with her life, seek personal growth, and stop holding others responsible for her current circumstances.
“I never did anything to you to deserve all this. I will choose myself over anybody in this sinful world.
“I repeat, I would like to know what I did wrong. I rest my case on this matter,” she concluded.
