Former Big Brother Naija housemate Angel Smith has publicly expressed her disapproval after celebrity designer Luminee announced the birth of her child with Yoruba actor Baba Ijesha.
The news generated widespread reactions online after Baba Ijesha shared a post celebrating his new family, stating that God had blessed him beyond his expectations with a wife and a baby boy.
Luminee also confirmed the birth of their child, expressing her happiness and affection for the actor, whom she described as a rare person with a good heart.
Reacting in the comment section of her post, Angel Smith did not hide her disappointment, initially writing a brief reaction:
“Ew.”
She later expanded on her concerns, questioning Luminee’s decision to have a child with Baba Ijesha in light of his previous legal controversy involving a minor.
“How can you, as a woman, have a baby with this person, knowing his crime. You had a child with someone who committed such a visceral crime against another child. Ka Chineke chebe anyi ka ekwensu ghara iduba anyi n’olulu,” Angel wrote.
Baba Ijesha’s case became one of Nigeria’s most widely discussed entertainment controversies in 2021 after actress and comedian Princess accused him of sexually assaulting her 14-year-old ward.
In 2022, he was convicted and sentenced to a prison term in connection with the case. He was later released from custody in November 2025 after serving part of his sentence, a development that also sparked public debate.
Following his release, actor Yomi Fabiyi celebrated his return and stated that an appeal court had cleared him, while Baba Ijesha maintained in subsequent interviews that he was not a paedophile or a rapist and insisted that he had been wrongly portrayed.
Angel Smith’s latest remarks have now added another layer to the public conversation surrounding the actor’s return to the spotlight and his new family life.
While some social media users supported Angel’s criticism, others defended Luminee’s right to make her own personal decisions.
