Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Tems has put an end to any speculation linking her romantically with Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, making it clear that there is nothing more than friendship between them.
The award-winning singer addressed the topic during a recent interview after a light-hearted conversation unexpectedly shifted from music to her personal life.
Before the discussion turned to Okoye, Tems reflected on the global rise of Afrobeats, expressing pride in how Nigerian and African artistes have continued to dominate the international music scene.

“It’s amazing coming from Nigeria. I’m just really happy where African music is going right now. Everybody’s popping off and everybody’s shining. So I’m just happy to be a part of that,” she said.
Tems laughs off romance question
The mood changed when the interviewer brought up Maduka Okoye and asked whether she knew the Nigerian international personally.
Caught off guard, Tems laughed before briefly hesitating over her response.
“Do I know him personally?”
She immediately corrected herself, adding:
“I think I do… No, no, no, no, no. I don’t.”
The playful moment became even more interesting when the interviewer jokingly suggested she should “shoot her shot” at the goalkeeper.

Tems wasted no time shutting down the idea.
“Shoot? No, no, no, we don’t shoot shots here. We’re friends. We ‘friend’ each other and we’re family. No shots.”
Her response left the interview hosts laughing while making her stance crystal clear.
Singer dismisses dating speculation
Although the exchange was filled with humor, Tems left little room for fans to read anything more into it.
By describing their relationship as one built on friendship and family, the singer dismissed any possibility of a romantic connection with the Udinese goalkeeper.
The comments have since sparked reactions online, with fans praising the singer’s candid response, while others joked that she had firmly ended any rumors before they could gain momentum.
Tems has largely kept her private life away from the spotlight despite her growing international success, choosing to focus public attention on her music rather than her relationships.
With the singer now addressing the topic herself, it appears any speculation linking her to Maduka Okoye can be put to rest—at least for now.
