Nollywood actress and African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate, Doris Ogala, has doubled down on her ambition to become the next governor of Abia State, declaring that her quest for the state’s top office is backed by what she believes is divine direction.
Speaking confidently about the 2027 governorship election, Ogala urged Abia residents to rally behind her candidacy, insisting that God has already ordained her emergence as governor.
Her remarks have quickly sparked conversations online, with many reacting to both her unwavering confidence and the religious conviction she attached to her political ambition.
Ogala, who officially entered the Abia governorship race on the platform of the African Action Congress (AAC), said she has no doubt about the outcome of the election, maintaining that her faith gives her complete assurance of victory.
Addressing supporters, she made an emphatic appeal for votes while suggesting that her emergence was inevitable.
“You don’t have a choice in Abia state, I’ll be your your governor, God has sent me to save you all, Doris Ogala will be your governor”

“Vote Doris Ogala as your Governor, you don’t have choice. Doris will be your governor, you don’t have choice. God has said it, so shall it be. It’s very simple, why don’t you get that?” she said.
The actress-turned-politician has repeatedly framed her ambition to govern as more than a personal aspiration, portraying it as a mission she believes God has entrusted to her. Her latest comments reinforce that message as political activities gradually gain momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Although the election is still months away, aspirants across different political parties have started positioning themselves and courting public support, particularly through community engagements and social media campaigns. Ogala’s declaration adds another layer to the growing political conversation in Abia State, where voters are expected to assess candidates based on their vision, policies and leadership credentials.
Known primarily for her career in Nollywood, Ogala has, in recent years, become more vocal about political and social issues, using her public platform to comment on governance and national affairs. Her decision to contest for governor marks a significant shift from entertainment to active politics, joining a growing list of Nigerian celebrities seeking elective office.
The African Action Congress, the platform on which she is contesting, has consistently positioned itself as an alternative political party advocating governance reforms, accountability and greater citizen participation. While the party has yet to establish a dominant presence in many states, it continues to field candidates in major elections across the country.
Ogala’s reliance on faith as part of her campaign messaging is unlikely to surprise many Nigerians, where religious expressions often feature prominently in political discourse. However, political analysts have long argued that electoral success ultimately depends on factors such as grassroots support, party structure, campaign strategy and voter confidence, in addition to personal conviction.
As the countdown to the 2027 governorship election continues, all eyes will be on how Doris Ogala translates her bold declarations into a campaign capable of persuading voters across Abia State.
For now, her confident assertion that she has been divinely chosen has ensured that her candidacy remains part of the broader conversation surrounding the race for Government House in Umuahia.
