Cristiano Ronaldo, the striker for Al-Nassr, recently stated that his rivalry with Lionel Messi has come to an end, as both players have already made a lasting impact on the history of football.
These two athletes have dominated the sport for over ten years, winning an impressive total of 79 trophies between them.
Additionally, they are the only players to have scored over 800 goals each.
“I don’t see things like that, the rivalry is gone,” Ronaldo said.
“It was good, the spectators liked it.
“Those who like Cristiano Ronaldo don’t have to hate Messi and vice versa. We’ve done well, we have changed the history of football. We are respected all over the world, that’s the most important thing,” he added.
Ronaldo made the decision to leave European football for Saudi Arabia in January, following the termination of his contract with Manchester United.
Meanwhile, Messi, who recently secured victory in the 2022 World Cup, joined Inter Miami CF as a free agent in June after a two-season stint with Paris Saint-Germain.
In August, he made history by becoming the most decorated football player with 44 trophies, as he helped his MLS club triumph in the 2023 Leagues Cup.
