The ELN, a notorious gang group in Colombia known for their criminal activities, has been confirmed as the perpetrators behind the kidnapping of Luis Diaz’s father.
The Colombian government, as stated in a tweet by Fabrizio Romano, has strong suspicions that the group was responsible for the abduction.
Although Marulanda was released the same day, there has been no progress in securing the rescue of Luis Manuel Díaz, even after five days.
The Colombian police have identified two of the four men involved in the kidnapping of Luis Manuel Díaz and are urgently working to prevent his captors from smuggling him into neighboring Venezuela.
The search for Luis Manuel Díaz is still ongoing in La Guajira, a desert region near Venezuela that is known to be a hub for armed groups involved in contraband and cocaine smuggling.
Reports suggest that the Colombian police have offered a reward for any information that could lead to the safe recovery of Luis Manuel Díaz.
