Real reason I invited Portable, Pasuma to perform – Lagos Celestial church pastor

Celestial Church leader stops Portable, Pasuma’s performance at praise night

Aderemi Dabiri, the founder of a Celestial Church of Christ branch in Lagos State, has provided an explanation for his decision to invite famous fuji singer Pasuma and rising Afrobeats star Portable for a praise night event.

The church faced controversy on social media after announcing the guest artistes.

In a viral video, Dabiri addressed the backlash and clarified that his intention was to attract new converts by featuring secular artists.

“It is not our first time inviting guest artistes. We have been doing it without a problem and I can give you a series of instances. We can’t go where they sell palm wine or alcoholic drinks and ask them to accept Jesus Christ. If I don’t apply wisdom, they will hit bottle on my head. That was why I thought of a way to bring them into the church,” he said.

While criticising some gospel singers for their disrespectful behaviour, Dabiri added, “Some of the gospel singers are rude. Some of them respond to you rudely, but the day I called Pasuma, he sounded respectful on the phone and also agreed with my stance.”

Dabiri further called on the Celestial Church worldwide for support and expressed his dedication to using his evangelism style to bring honor to the church.
