According to the student newspaper of Harvard University, the President of the prestigious US school, Claudine Gay, has resigned.
This decision comes after she faced criticism for allegations of plagiarism and her handling of anti-Semitism on campus.
Gay’s tenure as president was the shortest in the history of the University.
In recent months, Gay has been under fire for not properly citing scholarly sources in her academic work.
The most recent accusations were published anonymously in a conservative online outlet.
Additionally, she faced scandal when she declined to clearly state whether advocating for the genocide of Jews violated Harvard’s code of conduct during her testimony to Congress last month, alongside the heads of MIT and the University of Pennsylvania.
The university did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Gay, 53, was born in New York to Haitian immigrants and is a professor of political science who in July became the first Black president of 368-year-old Harvard University, in Cambridge, outside Boston.
