Manchester United win their appeal of Bruno Fernandes red card

Bruno Fernandes

On Tuesday, Manchester United won their appeal against Bruno Fernandes’s red card for a foul on James Maddison.

The Football Association has officially lifted his three-match suspension.

Fernandes received a straight red card for a challenge on Maddison late in the first half of Sunday’s Premier League match against Tottenham at Old Trafford, which United eventually lost 3-0.

The midfielder later protested that the tackle was “never a red card” after the game, and United challenged the verdict.

The Football Association (FA) has officially announced that he will not face a suspension.

Fernandes’ red card, which was the third of the 30-year-old’s career, meant he was to be suspended for his team’s matches against Aston Villa, Brentford and West Ham, but he will be available for head coach Erik ten Hag after the FA’s decision.
