Former England midfielder Frank Lampard has been appointed as the new manager of Coventry City in the Championship as he looks to revive his coaching career.
Lampard, who has been without a job since his last stint at Chelsea in 2023, will take over a Coventry side currently sitting 17th in the English second tier following the controversial sacking of Mark Robins.
“I am delighted that Frank Lampard has agreed to join our club as head coach,” said Coventry owner Doug King.
“Frank cut his teeth in the Championship and knows what is needed in this league to be successful.
“His experiences thereafter at Chelsea and Everton will ensure he brings to our talented squad clear understanding of exactly what is needed to succeed at the very top level that we as a club are striving to reach.”
The 46-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract and will make his debut against Cardiff City on Saturday.
Despite a successful season at Derby County, Lampard struggled in his first tenure as Chelsea manager and was let go after 18 months.
He now has the opportunity to prove himself once again at Coventry.
