Ruben Amorim, the manager of Manchester United, expressed his gratitude for the warm reception he received from Old Trafford fans during their 3-2 victory over Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League.
This was his first home game in charge, following a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town.
Despite falling behind to goals from Hakon Evjen and Filip Zinckernagel, Alejandro Garnacho scored early on and Rasmus Hojlund’s double secured a memorable win for Amorim.
“Half of the stadium doesn’t know me, I came from Portugal and I did nothing for this club. Yet the way they make me feel at home is special. I will keep this to the end of my career.
“It was a real ride. We started well but then conceded two goals in transitions. I like the way the players tried to play our game.
“Sometimes we won the ball and have had problems in the past giving the ball away too much – the mindset is keeping the ball. They are really trying and I think we deserved the win,” Amorim told TNT Sports.
