LeBron James taunts Drake by rapping to Kendrick Lamar’s “TV Off”

Lebron James

LeBron James and Drake were once regarded as very close associates. They represented the pinnacle of success in their respective domains of sports and hip hop, and they shared a mutual understanding of the challenges accompanying their prominence. However, the connection they once held has seemingly dissipated in 2024.

LeBron James, now with the Los Angeles Lakers, appears to have distanced himself from Drake and fully embraced the artistry of L.A. luminary Kendrick Lamar. He attended Lamar’s “Pop Out” concert on Juneteenth, where he was observed enjoying the performance. On Friday, the Laker was captured rapping along to one of Lamar’s latest tracks during his pre-game warm-ups.

LeBron James was recorded engaging in warm-up exercises prior to a Lakers game on November 29. It was a typical routine, save for the track resonating through the arena. “TV Off,” the most viral song from Kendrick Lamar’s latest album, GNX, was being played. Bron opted to subtly endorse the track by rapping along as he practiced his shooting. He enthusiastically joined in on the “Mustard!” chant that has gained significant traction on social media. Additionally, he rapped Kendrick Lamar’s hook, which includes the title of the song. As the instrumental takes over for the following segment, Bron maintains his rhythm without faltering. He continues to exhibit his dance moves while taking shots.

LeBron James enjoys demonstrating his awareness of contemporary music releases. The NBA superstar’s attempts, often humorous, to rap along to new lyrics have been a source of memes long before Lamar’s “Mustard!” chant emerged. However, it is evident that LeBron is familiar with the words to “TV Off.”

Throughout the ongoing rivalry, the iconic athlete has remained attuned to Kendrick Lamar’s developments. He was previously recorded dancing to Lamar’s “Not Like Us” in a nightclub, again displaying his knowledge of every lyric. This seemingly minor detail carries significance. Drake appears to have taken note, as the Canadian rapper unfollowed LeBron James on Instagram a few months ago.

The most fascinating element of LeBron’s admiration for Kendrick Lamar may be the recent Apple advertisement he participated in.

The Lakers superstar endorsed a brand new Beats pill alongside none other than Drake’s mentor, Lil Wayne. This is the same Wayne who felt marginalized by Kendrick Lamar’s selection as the Super Bowl Halftime Show headliner over him.

Lamar even alluded to this sentiment in the opening track of his new album. LeBron James’ allegiance has undergone a substantial transformation in 2024, and it seems he is firmly aligned with team K. Dot.
