Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United, was left in tears when his potential transfer to Tottenham Hotspur from Sporting CP fell through in 2019.
Despite being close to joining the North London club, the deal collapsed due to Spurs refusing to meet Sporting CP’s demands on the deal structure.
Reports from the Daily Mail suggest that Fernandes was so upset that he cried in his chairman’s office after the deal fell through.
However, six months later, he ended up signing a contract with Manchester United.
Since then, he has established himself as one of the premier league’s top players, leaving Tottenham full of regret for missing out on him.
