EPL: Man United shortlist Amorim’s replacement amid poor performance

EPL: Man Utd rejected my offer – Amorim reveals

Manchester United has compiled a list of three potential managerial candidates who may succeed Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.

Fichajes.net disclosed this information through Football Transfers, furthermore indicating that the Portuguese manager, who assumed control at Old Trafford not long ago, might be departing in the near future.

Amorim was appointed as the manager of Manchester United in November of the previous year, following the termination of Erik ten Hag’s contract.

The 38-year-old Portuguese coach transitioned from Sporting CP to oversee a team experiencing significant difficulties, yet he has not succeeded in altering their trajectory.

Those who initially posited that the 3-4-3 tactical system he implemented would be a panacea are now expressing disappointment, as the Red Devils have managed to secure only four victories in the Premier League under Amorim’s stewardship.

As the situation deteriorates for the Manchester club, the administration is reportedly losing patience with Amorim and is proactively devising alternative strategies.

According to the report, Manchester United is evaluating the prospects of former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, former Chelsea, Tottenham, PSG, and Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino, and another former Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, as suitable replacements for the ex-Sporting CP coach.

However, the report further elucidated that securing the services of the aforementioned managers poses considerable challenges.

Zidane is reportedly awaiting the opportunity to assume the role of head coach for the France national team, with the current manager, Didier Deschamps, anticipated to step down from his position following the culmination of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

As for Pochettino and Tuchel, both of whom have previously managed Chelsea, they are presently at the helm of the United States and England men’s national teams, respectively.

Notably, the Red Devils seemingly regarded Tuchel as a viable candidate last summer before ultimately deciding to retain Erik ten Hag.

Pochettino, on the other hand, was considered a contender for the Manchester United managerial position in 2022, prior to the Dutchman’s appointment.
