LeBron James has made history once again, becoming the first player in NBA history to surpass 50,000 career points on Tuesday.
The Los Angeles Lakers superstar cemented his legacy as the league’s all-time leading scorer by reaching a milestone that may never be broken.
Heading into the game against the New Orleans Pelicans, James needed just one point to hit the historic mark, having racked up 49,999 combined regular-season and postseason points after a 17-point performance against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.
It didn’t take long for the 40-year-old NBA icon to get the job done. Early in the game, he caught a pass from Luka Doncic and drained a stunning 25-foot three-pointer, sending the Crypto.com Arena crowd into a frenzy as he officially crossed the 50,000-point barrier.
LeBron’s Historic Scoring Feats
James has continued to redefine greatness in his 22nd NBA season, breaking records that once seemed untouchable.
In 2023, he surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s long-standing regular-season scoring record of 38,387 points, which had stood for nearly four decades.
With this latest achievement, James is now nearly 6,000 points clear of Abdul-Jabbar’s total career points tally of 44,149.
Here’s how LeBron stacks up against the NBA’s all-time top scorers:
🏀 LeBron James – 50,002+ points
🏀 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar – 44,149 points
🏀 Karl Malone – 41,689 points
🏀 Kobe Bryant – 39,283 points
🏀 Michael Jordan – 38,279 points
With no signs of slowing down, LeBron James continues to set unprecedented records, further solidifying his status as one of the greatest basketball players of all time.
