In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, veteran Nollywood actress Ayo Adesanya revealed that the abuse she endured in her failed marriage led her to become an alcoholic.
Ayo Adesanya shared how her ex-husband prohibited her from acting and even threatened her with violence, including threatening to harm her eyes with a knife.
She disclosed that she endured 10 years of abuse but felt trapped due to the fear of people judging her for not being able to sustain her marriage.
“Anywhere my ex-husband saw me, he would beat me.
“He beat me so much that I became an alcoholic. But I couldn’t leave because of the shame of people saying I couldn’t keep a man.”
