Cardi B is entering the realm of moguls, focusing not only on financial success but also on leaving a lasting legacy.
The award-winning rapper and fashion trendsetter has partnered with Revolve Group to launch her own fashion and beauty brands, and she is making sure to aim big.
In an exclusive interview, Cardi B told WWD that:
“People have been expecting both from me. My beauty line, people have been expecting that, like an album”
“People expect the best from both fields. We have to come in strong.”
The Bronx-born superstar already boasts major wins with Whipshots, Skims, and Reebok, but this new multi-category venture is all about ownership, longevity, and doing it her way, stating:
“I personally believe that I put a lot of people on a lot of trends. It’s not even about getting paid, but its not appreciated. I gotta do this for me because I don’t get thank yous. If I don’t have a good year, I don’t get ‘How have you been?’ Nobody does that. It’s time for me to do my s-t for my own self, not for everybody else.”
Her Revolve collaboration, backed by her dream team, isn’t about fast trends, but timeless staples that feel good, fit right, and last. Long-time manager and creative director Patientce Foster also told WWD that:
“This is a lifetime brand, this is not a fling or a trend.”
Cardi’s goal? To create a long-lasting legacy, she said:
“If god forbid something happens to me, I don’t want my kids to be fighting with record labels… I want them to eat off everything.”
