Skales, an Afrobeats singer, believes that Nigeria’s lower crime rate compared to the UK is due to the presence of extrajudicial punishments.
In a recent interview on Just Vibes, he explained that criminals in Nigeria fear being subjected to extrajudicial punishment if caught, leading them to be less brazen than criminals in the UK.
“There is lesser crime in Nigeria compared to UK because they know if they [criminals] get caught, there is jungle justice. They burn you alive,” he said.
Despite this observation, Skales made it clear that he does not condone or support jungle justice due to its extrajudicial nature.
During the interview, Skales also discussed afrobeats as a musical style, emphasizing that it is difficult to define how the genre is supposed to sound.
He described afrobeats as more of an umbrella term that encompasses various musical styles rather than a specific genre.
