AMVCA 2025: ‘There’s gang up against Ibrahim Chatta’ – Portable

‘There’s gang up against Ibrahim Chatta’ – Portable

Controversial musician Portable, also known as Habeeb Okikiola, has made allegations of a conspiracy against certain individuals in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

According to Portable, actor Ibrahim Chatta was unfairly targeted in the movie industry, resulting in him missing out on winning an award at the eleventh Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards. Chatta was nominated for Best Lead Actor for his role in ‘House of GAA,’ but ultimately lost to Femi Adebayo for ‘Seven Doors.’ Adebayo’s co-star, Chioma Chukwuka, also won Best Lead Actress.

In a video message posted on his Instagram, Portable argued that Ibrahim Chatta was the more deserving winner of the Best Lead Actor award.

He said, “My fans, there is a gang up in the Nigerian entertainment industry, even in Nollywood. They didn’t give Ibrahim Chatta an award at the 11th AMVCA despite his impeccable acting. That was how I was also snubbed by The Headies Awards.

“We don’t need awards. We need food, we need money. We have money but we can’t use money to buy awards like some persons.

“Ibrahim Chatta, if they don’t award you, God will reward you. My boss, you are my mentor. I love you.”

Recall that Ibrahim Chatta made a similar claim in 2023 when he was yet to bag an AMVCA nomination. He had claimed that his exclusion from the award was a conspiracy against him.
