Popular Nigerian disc jockey, DJ Big N, has issued a strong warning to aspiring DJs, urging them not to view the profession as a backup plan or escape route.
In a post shared on his social media page, DJ Big N stressed that only those with a genuine passion for music will succeed in the industry. According to him, individuals who enter DJing without true dedication will quickly fade away.
“Everybody now wants to be a DJ. It’s not an escape route, it’s not a plan B,” he wrote. “If you don’t have deep love for music, you will be a flash in the pan.”
He also took a swipe at DJs who limit themselves to only Amapiano tracks, advising them to broaden their music collections — commonly referred to as “building their crates” in DJ culture.
“Yeah, I’m talking to those DJs who think the only music out there is Amapiano. Build your crates,” he added.
His message serves as a reminder that success in DJing requires versatility, hard work, and an unwavering love for music beyond fleeting trends.
