Tesla CEO Elon Musk has publicly expressed regret over a series of controversial posts he made last week targeting former U.S. President Donald Trump.
Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, Musk admitted that his comments had crossed the line.
“I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far,” Musk wrote.
The feud between the two influential figures recently escalated, ending what was once a productive partnership that saw Musk lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) during Trump’s second term.
Tensions reportedly flared over Musk’s opposition to Trump’s controversial “One Big Beautiful Bill Act”, a proposed tax and spending package backed by the former President.
Last week, Musk sparked backlash after claiming that Trump would have lost the 2024 Presidential Election without his support. In a now-deleted post, Musk also made unsubstantiated allegations suggesting Trump had been named in the files of the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein—a claim strongly refuted by the White House.
Observers noted that Musk appeared to delete several of the inflammatory posts over the weekend, possibly in an attempt to de-escalate the public row.
