Former Minister of Transport and ex-Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, has revealed why he will never oppose former Rivers State Governor, Peter Odili, and his wife, Justice Mary Odili, regardless of any personal grievances.

Amaechi disclosed during a recent interview on Arise Television, where he reflected on his life, achievements, and relationships as he marked his 60th birthday.

“After God, It’s the Odilis” – Amaechi

During the interview, Amaechi said that after God, the Odilis played pivotal roles in shaping his political career and personal life. He emphasized that his loyalty and gratitude to them remain unshakable, even in the face of past misunderstandings.

“Every time I speak, I begin by thanking God. Then I thank Peter Odili and his wife for the roles they played in my life,” Amaechi stated.

“I’ve said to my wife and children that no matter what happens, I’ll never go against the Odilis. They’ve done things to me—things that could make one scream—but I hold back because I believe God used them in my life. So, to respect God, I must respect them.”

A Complex Relationship Rooted in Loyalty

Amaechi’s comments highlight the deep and complex history between him and the Odilis. He served as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly under Peter Odili’s governorship and was widely believed to be his political protégé before their relationship later faced challenges.

Despite any perceived betrayals or tensions over the years, Amaechi’s remarks indicate a deliberate and enduring decision to honor the couple’s past influence on his life.

Reflecting at 60

As he turns 60, Amaechi took a reflective tone in the interview, focusing on gratitude rather than political score-settling.

His statement has since sparked conversations online, with many applauding his display of humility and respect in an era often dominated by political rivalry and personal vendettas.
