Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter is toying with the idea of implementing a phone ban at her future concerts — and she admits it might not go down well with fans.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the 26-year-old singer reflected on her experience attending a Silk Sonic show in Las Vegas where audience members had their phones locked away.
“I went to see Silk Sonic in Vegas, and they locked my phone. I’ve never had a better experience at a concert,” Sabrina Carpenter said. “I genuinely felt like I was back in the ’70s — wasn’t alive. Genuinely felt like I was there. Everyone’s singing, dancing, looking at each other, and laughing. It really, really just felt so beautiful.”
The nostalgic, phone-free atmosphere left a strong impression on Carpenter, who is currently on her Short n’ Sweet Tour, which runs through November.
Sabrina Carpenter revealed that the show has given her a new perspective on live performances and the impact of phones in the crowd.
“I’ve grown up in the age of people having iPhones at shows. It unfortunately feels super normal to me. I can’t blame people for wanting to have memories,” she said. “But depending on how long I want to be touring, and what age I am — girl, take those phones away.”
Sabrina Carpenter also joked about future-proofing her stage image. “You cannot zoom in on my face. Right now, my skin is soft and supple. It’s fine. Do not zoom in on me when I’m 80 years old up there.”
Still, she acknowledged that a phone ban would spark backlash. “This will honestly p**s off my fans, but absolutely.”
