Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has publicly tendered an apology to her colleague, Mercy Johnson-Okojie, and billionaire politician Senator Ned Nwoko, following weeks of online drama that also drew actress Regina Daniels into the spotlight.
Angela made the apology in an Instagram post on Friday, sharing photos of Mercy, her husband Prince Odi Okojie, and Ned Nwoko—noticeably excluding Regina Daniels, who had been central in defending Mercy during the online spat.
In her heartfelt statement, Angela wrote:
“Hi beautiful people, these past days have been a period of intense reflection for me. Lately, having reminisced on certain events that had transpired, I can only thank God that I am alive.”
She acknowledged that her previous comments toward Mercy were spoken from a place of emotion and pain:
“It’s no secret that there have been some difficult issues circulating on social media between Mercy Johnson and myself… I am human, and when my emotions take over, I speak from the heart… I realise now that my utterances, whether uttered from a place of pain or not, were hurtful… I feel so sorry… Your mental health is very important… Do find a place in your heart to forgive me.”
Angela also extended her apology to Senator Ned Nwoko, admitting that her words were disrespectful and said in the heat of the moment:
“My sincere apology also goes to Senator Ned Nwoko… I truly reacted in a way I now recognise wasn’t pleasant. I cannot intentionally disrespect you for whatever reason.”
The Drama Behind the Apology
The feud began on June 3 when Angela went live on Instagram, claiming Mercy Johnson was seriously ill and insinuated that her weight loss had spiritual causes—not fitness routines. She criticized Mercy’s character and suggested she had harmed people in the industry.
Regina Daniels, who regards Mercy as a mentor, clapped back fiercely via Instagram Stories, writing:
“With all due respect, Aunty Angela, you dey mad!… She get pikin wey gidigba.”
Regina also alleged that Angela once showed interest in her husband Ned Nwoko and accused her of bitterness and professional incompetence.
Angela responded with another video, mocking Regina and Ned’s marriage and warning Regina to “stay in her place.”
Throughout the online drama, Mercy Johnson remained silent, focusing instead on her work. On June 4, she announced a new brand endorsement deal, steering clear of the controversy entirely.
Angela’s public apology has been met with mixed reactions online, with many calling for maturity and reconciliation in Nollywood.
