Blaqbonez Raises Alarm Over “Irreversible” Damage Caused by Stream Farming in Nigerian Music Industry

Rapper Blaqbonez has voiced serious concern about the growing issue of stream farming in the Nigerian music scene, warning that its impact may already be beyond repair.

He made the statement in response to recent criticism by singer Magixx, who condemned artists for using bots and automated systems to artificially inflate their streaming numbers.

“Y’all faking your numbers I hope you sleep well at night… keep deceiving your family members,” Magixx wrote via X.

Quoting the post, Blaqbonez echoed the sentiment and warned of the long-term consequences of such manipulation.

He wrote, “The irreversible damage we done to our industry, one day it’d finally come crumbling down, for now let’s keep acting like the charts mean anything more than a showcase of the people who can afford to buy it, its like iTunes in the 2000s all over again.”

Blaqbonez’s remarks add to the growing conversation around transparency and credibility in music streaming metrics, as concerns over fake numbers continue to rise.
