Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari was recently admitted to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in London during a routine medical check-up, according to a report by The Cable.
A close family member confirmed that Buhari fell ill while in the United Kingdom but has since been discharged from the hospital and is currently recuperating. Though the exact nature of his ailment remains undisclosed, sources indicate that he will return to Nigeria once he fully regains his strength.
The report also mentioned that Mamman Daura, Buhari’s influential uncle and long-time confidant, is likewise in the UK and recovering from health-related issues.
Buhari’s absence at the 50th anniversary celebration of ECOWAS, held on May 28 in Lagos, had earlier sparked public curiosity. In a letter addressed to President Bola Tinubu, the former president explained that he could not attend the regional event due to medical commitments abroad.
Adding to the mystery surrounding his UK stay, a photo of Buhari with former EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, emerged online earlier in May, following what was described as a private visit in London. The details and purpose of the meeting remain unknown.
While hie current condition is reportedly stable, his health continues to draw public interest, particularly given his past history of extended medical trips during his time in office.
