The funeral ceremony for late Liverpool forward Diogo Jota and his younger brother Andre Silva has been officially scheduled for 10am on Saturday in Gondomar, Portugal.
The initial plan, as announced by local priest Father Jose Manuel Macedo, was to hold the burial service at 4pm on Friday. However, Father Macedo later confirmed a rescheduling of the funeral to Saturday morning, citing minor paperwork delays as the reason for the change.
According to the UK Mirror, the delay stems from documentation issues that must be resolved before the family can repatriate the bodies to Portugal from Spain.
Ahead of the funeral mass, a wake-keep will be held at Sao Cosme Chapel, while the funeral service itself will take place at Igreja Matriz de Gondomar, the Catholic church adjacent to the chapel.
The tragic accident that claimed the lives of Diogo Jota, 28, and Andre, 25, occurred in the early hours of Friday on the A-52 highway in Zamora, Spain, while the brothers were traveling together.
The football world has continued to mourn their loss, with tributes pouring in from fans, teammates, clubs, and international figures.
