Veteran journalist and PDP chieftain Dele Momodu has weighed in on the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the former Kano governor as a “tragic hero” who sacrificed himself for President Bola Tinubu.
In a post shared on his Facebook page, Momodu claimed Ganduje’s loyalty was repaid with betrayal, as he became dispensable the moment his political usefulness expired.
“GANDUJE is a tragic hero who took bullets for TINUBU. But like it happens to all lackeys, his usefulness has expired,” Momodu wrote.
He also warned Senate President Godswill Akpabio to tread carefully, noting that Tinubu tolerates no rivals.
“This current power is absolutely for Tinubu… No one is indispensable, and everyone else is expendable whenever it becomes necessary. My friend Akpabio should beware,” he said.
Referencing Tinubu’s long-standing political dominance in Lagos, Momodu argued that the president’s methods are consistent and ruthless:
“The fate that has befallen Vice President Shettima today is nothing new. It befell several Deputy Governors in Lagos… Governor Ambode was the biggest casualty. Sanwo-Olu merely escaped by the whiskers recently.”
He added that Ganduje is now being blamed for the APC’s internal troubles, with some analysts suggesting he should have reconciled with Nasir El-Rufai after his failed ministerial nomination.
“But GANDUJE knew the real power that betrayed NASIRU and dared not meddle in the matter,” Momodu wrote.
Concluding his remarks, Momodu likened the current political climate to a Machiavellian drama, warning that more high-profile casualties may soon follow.
