Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo has emotionally showered her daughter, Priscilla Ojo, with prayers and words of hope during her baby shower held in Canada, following the public announcement of Priscilla’s pregnancy with Tanzanian singer Juma Jux.
The touching moment unfolded in a video from the event, where a visibly emotional Iyabo Ojo prayed passionately for a lasting and joyful marriage for her daughter — a future she hopes will contrast with her own experience.
“Priscilla, your marriage will work. You will grow old with your husband because in God you have married right. If mine did not work, yours will work, for I have paid that sacrifice for yours to work,” she declared.
The actress also addressed criticisms regarding the grandeur of Priscilla’s wedding ceremony and the choices she made as a mother. Iyabo emphasized the importance of rewriting generational narratives and giving children the freedom to enjoy their blessings.
“I want to use this to encourage a lot of mothers out there. We go through a lot. When people saw the wedding, they were like, ‘Iyabo, why this and that?’ But for me to be here today, I made the decision, whether good or bad, it is my burden to carry. And I will never deprive my children of their blessings, no matter the situation,” she said.
Concluding her heartfelt speech, Iyabo offered a spiritually-charged reminder about generational healing:
“There’s something called ancestral curses; for you to break it, you must stop it.”
