Jessica Simpson remained composed after experiencing a minor wardrobe mishap during her live appearance on the Today Show on Wednesday.
The 45-year-old pop star was performing a mix of her classic hits along with her latest single Fade when her corset top slipped, briefly revealing her pink bra. Simpson quickly adjusted her outfit on stage, handling the moment with ease.
“Of course I had a malfunction here and everywhere, but it’s OK,” she joked to the hosts after the set. “I think my boobs stayed in, so it’s OK.”
Jessica Simpson’s return to music marks her first major project in 15 years. She released Nashville Canyon: Pt. 1 in March and is set to drop Part 2 in September.
The new songs reflect deeply personal experiences, including her recent split from husband Eric Johnson, with whom she ended a 10-year marriage earlier this year. Many of the lyrics delve into heartbreak and emotional recovery.
Discussing her return to the stage, Jessica Simpson shared how liberating the experience has been. “Today it was like, ‘Get out of your head… Who cares if your shoe falls off? Who cares if you forget a lyric?’” she said. “It’s just about being up there and being vulnerable.”
Her new single Fade, released this week, appears to capture the pain of a relationship’s end. Lyrics like “Watching you fade on me / Your words mean nothing now” offer a glimpse into her emotional journey.
Jessica Simpson described writing the song as part of a “heavy, emotional moment,” adding another layer of authenticity to her long-awaited comeback.
