Popular Nigerian pastor Rev. Kesiena Esiri Henry has publicly criticized gospel singer Ebuka Songs following a controversial TikTok live session featuring TikToker Peller.
The clergyman accused the duo of mocking God, expressing outrage over their conduct during the livestream, which included a prayer and gospel session with other participants.
“How can you explain to me that somebody who says he sings for God—he ministers unto Elohim—we saw him on a video with one clown mocking tongues, mocking prophecy…,” Rev Esiri wrote in a now-viral post.
The incident has sparked heated reactions on social media, with opinions divided over whether the livestream was genuinely spiritual or a form of religious mockery.
Social Media Reactions
Instagram users had mixed responses:
-
@yayaxpictures criticized Rev Esiri directly:
“This particular pastor just looks for what is trending and talks about it instead of the word of God… many of these people who call themselves pastors are unemployed people who opened churches to make income.” -
@fara_seun defended the pastor’s concern:
“If any of you saw nothing wrong with Peller’s mockery of tongues, I am worried! Don’t sugarcoat it for me, please.” -
@marrzofficial took issue with Rev Esiri’s tone:
“I’m not even a Peller fan, but the moment he said ‘with that clown,’ I lost interest in what the pastor had to say. He’s already being judgmental.”
Ebuka Songs, known for his viral gospel hit “I Will Pray,” has yet to respond publicly to the backlash or the pastor’s statements.
As the debate continues, many online users are calling for more discernment and respect in how faith is presented on social media platforms.
