Liverpool Football Club has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of forward Diogo Jota, who passed away alongside his brother, Andre, in a fatal car crash on Thursday in Zamora province, Spain.
In a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the club shared its grief with fans and the footballing world:

The heartbreaking news comes less than two weeks after Jota married his longtime partner, Rute Cardoso, in a ceremony held in Porto, Portugal. He was 28 years old.
Diogo Jota, who had just helped Liverpool clinch the Premier League title last season, was enjoying a holiday ahead of the 2025/26 season when the tragic incident occurred.
The Portuguese star is survived by his wife, Rute, and their three children. He is expected to be laid to rest in the coming days.
