“That’s pure ignorance” – Terry G Breaks Silence on ‘Pass Me Your Love’ Controversy

Terry G Claims He Made Smoking Cannabis

Nigerian singer and producer Terry G has finally addressed long-standing allegations that he stole the hit song “Pass Me Your Love” from fellow artist AY.Com, calling the claims “pure ignorance.”

The controversy, which has lingered for years, centers on the ownership of the 2009 hit song “Pass Me Your Love.” While AY.Com was the leading artist and Terry G featured as a guest, the song’s massive success led many to mistakenly attribute the track to Terry G, who frequently performed it at events.

Critics have accused Terry G of appropriating the song and allegedly overshadowing AY.com’s contribution, a claim he now firmly denies.

Terry G Speaks Out

Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Terry G set the record straight:

“To those saying I stole ‘Pass Me Your Love’ from AY.Com — that’s pure ignorance. So I don’t have the right to perform a song I collaborated on? Your favourite artists do it all the time, but when it’s me, it becomes a problem. Hypocrisy at its finest.”

He further clarified that the song was never included in his own album and emphasized that the collaboration was genuine:

“And no, I didn’t put the song on my album — it was never about ownership, it was about collaboration.”

AY.Com’s Career and the Fallout

Terry G also suggested that the controversy itself may have negatively impacted AY.Com’s career, rather than any action he took:

“Some of you ruined AY’s moment with your noise, not me. As for my shine, nobody can block it. You no reach.”

The remarks have reignited discussions on collaboration ethics in the Nigerian music industry, with fans divided over who should get credit for a hit song when both the featured and lead artists promote it heavily.
